On Tuesday December 12, 2006, UJAA launched its Water Tank Project in Jamaica at the Marcus Garvey Museum located at Liberty Hall in Kingston Jamaica.  Ambassador Derrick Heaven hosted the evening’s affair which was attended by several persons from the community as well UJAA’s delegation lead by President Anton Tomlinson, Vice President Mrs. Barbara Richards, Directors Mrs. Karlene Largie and Irwine Clare. Also accompanying UJAA’s delegation from the USA were Robert DeSouza who incidentally also contributed financially to the affair and Oswald Hancle, master Plumber from New York who ensured that the Tank was installed to specifications par excellence and Lance Clarke representing Team Jamaica Bickle.

Power 106 FM carried the launch live from 2:30 pm to 5pm.  During this time several of our sponsors and dignitaries were interviewed including Mr Will Rogers Senior Vice President of Air Jamaica, Mr Ryland Campbell, Chairman of Capital & Credit Group of Companies, Ms Suzette Rochester, VMBS, Mr Chris Stokes, Senior Vice President NCB, Mr Harry Boorahsingh, Jamaica National Overseas and Robert DeSouza, Trans Continental.

As was promised UJAA hosted a pre-Christmas Party for the children of the After School Program that is operated at Liberty Hall.  Some 75 to 100 children were feted to treats and fun rides and also a goodies gift bag.  Based on observation the kids appreciated this immensely as well as some parents who were in attendance.  In fact it was mentioned to us that as a result of all the attention and excitement at Liberty Hall that day, several new applications were received from parents to have their children join the After school program.

Three brand new and top of the line computers were presented to the Liberty Hall After School Program, courtesy of UJAA (2) and Team Jamaica Bickle (1).  Adults from the community use the computer lab during the day as a training tool and also to prepare themselves for entrepreneurial or employment opportunities.

Anton Tomlinson and Irwine Clare appeared on several radio programs as well as other interviews, etc.

Please note that the Management of Liberty Hall will be sending an official thank you  letter to UJAA  shortly.
