We make annual trips to our alma mater for all-day events that include gift presentations to every student, field sports and spelling contests. They end with a general review/ evaluation of changes relative to our assistance. Join us in Jamaica December 2006 for a fundraiser; and call us for a copy of our recent Annual Report. Glenmuir High School Alumni Association, New York Chapter | | | | www.glenmuiralumni.com | | | The Glenmuir High School Alumni Association was formed in mid 1973 at the urging of a member of the Parent Teachers Association, Eli Sampson. The basic objective of this alumni association is to provide scholastic assistance to students and the school in general through established programs to promote educational excellence. At the onset of the alumni association, financial assistance was provided towards the eventual construction of an auditorium and provided much needed books for the school library. The alumni association over the years has assisted the school in many ways and more recently provided the computer lab with ten computers including a network station and providing the chemistry/biology lab with much needed equipment. Glenmuir High School, a school of excellence, located in the Parish of Clarendon was established under the guidance of Rt. Rev. Percival Gibson, Lord Bishop of Jamaica. In addition to the NY Chapter, there is a Toronto Chapter and a newly formed Florida Chapter. Glenmuir Contact: Courtney Boothe, President

Manning's | | | The Manning’s School Past Students Association, New York “A Force on the Move” – Preserving Academic Excellence Recognizing that the tri-state area was home to some very fertile minds of Manning’s graduates, in the summer of 1988 a number of such alumni founded The Manning’s School Past Students Association in Brooklyn, New York. The main purpose of the group was to provide support for Manning’s as the need arises whenever local assistance was not available. Thus far, the Association has created the Manning’s School Tuition Assistance Grant (“MTAG”) and the Howard Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund. The MTAG program provides financial assistance to those students who are on the cusp of leaving school altogether because of financial difficulties. It has proven to be a reliable safety net for many of the struggling students whose parents have been caught in the crunch of the economy. The Scholarship Fund was launched posthumously to honor the memory and dedication of past student and principal, Howard Burton Jackson. Scholarships are awarded to students openly at the tertiary level and pays tuition and ancillary needs. Each year the association accommodates athletes participating at the Penn Relays by covering expenses related to their stay in Philadelphia - hotel, meals, transportation, and miscellaneous matters. The year 2000 saw the creation and launch of the Manning’s Education Development Fund (MEDF). This fund is a special savings account which is held in a leading financial institution in Jamaica. The interest/revenue generated by the fund will assist with structural improvement of infrastructure at Manning’s in addition to other projects. Ultimately the aim is to convert the account into a “Trust Fund.” Determined to bring Manning’s into the information technology age, the association aggressively refurbished and furnished a computer lab, with the generosity of several alumni and good friends. Most importantly, the association has established and has maintained a well-groomed relationship with the school community. The focus of the group now is to develop a standard of acknowledgement and appreciation for Manning’s School to present to students at the mid-level and especially to each class of new graduates. The association believes in the good neighbor policy. Therefore, members foster and nurture a presence not only in the communal address of Brooklyn, but also in individual communities, by organizing social activities in order to maintain a well developed comradeship. The Manning’s School Past Students Association is a not-for-profit organization, duly incorporated in the State of New York and has a 501(c)(3) Internal Revenue Service (IRS) designation. All contributions to the association are tax deductible, where permitted by law. Executive Board Yvonne Gardener, Esq. Morant Bay | | | | http://www.mbhsalumni.com/ | | | The Morant Bay High School Past Students' Association was formed in 1989 with six founding members. The objective of the alumni is to assist the current students who are experiencing financial needs. Two main areas of assistance are academic scholarships to qualified students, and large projects. The school is currently renovating its computer lab, which is our focus this year. Another milestone in the history of Morant Bay High School – in 2001 the School will celebrate its 40th anniversary. Located in the parish of St. Thomas in Jamaica, the School was established in 1961 and was financed by the Methodist Church. The current enrollment has grown beyond capacity. As the population of the School increases, so do the needs of the students. Thus, the birth of the New York and Toronto Chapter of the Alumni.

York Street | | | http://www.YSPSA.org | | | Elaine Anderson-Coleman founded York Street Past Student’s Assn. Inc. and with other past students and friends the association was officially launched August 1996. Our purpose and goal is to give assistance to York Street Primary School located in St. Catherine about four miles from the town of Linstead. The association also gives aid to 8 basic, 3 primary, and 1 high school in the neighboring communities. We instituted a program in 2000 geared at assisting the most needy students attending York Street Primary and naming it ‘The Sunshine Program’; it provides each student with uniform and a hot meal daily. In collaboration with the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) we built two additional classrooms and toilet facilities in 2001. In late 2003 to early 2004 we were successful in building a library and computer lab at a cost of JA$3.7M. Our success story was featured on ‘A Ray of Hope’ a program that highlights community development on the Caribbean Information Network (CIN) February 15, 2004.
